Voskopojë Churches

Fresco-rich churches of old Moscopole

Voskopojë, Korçë County

About

The mountain village of Voskopojë, known historically as Moscopole, was an 18th-century Aromanian cultural and commercial centre that hosted the first printing press in the Ottoman Balkans outside Istanbul. Several surviving 18th-century stone churches preserve one of the richest concentrations of Orthodox fresco art in the Balkans.
