This large Roman Catholic cathedral was built between 1858 and 1867 and was once one of the biggest Catholic cathedrals in the Balkans. It reopened in 1990 after the communist ban on religion was lifted.

One of the largest Catholic cathedrals in the Balkans when built (consecrated 1867), it was closed during Albania's 1967 atheist campaign and converted into a sports hall before reopening for worship in 1990.
